TOY DESIGN HI-FI PROTOTYPE

OBJECT DESCRIPTION

ANGGOTA MEONG (translated to the CAT CRUSADERS) is a series of multiple kits, ranging from 5 different possible versions, meant to teach children (ages 8-12) in urban areas of Indonesia to empathize and respect street cats, because they are innocent creatures navigating the city—just like those children.

Through tactile learning, analogue play, live-action roleplay (by own accord), and perhaps a little blind box feature, the children will begin to understand the importance and equality of street cats’ lives. My hopes for this project is to help children develop empathy-through-play, not only for Indonesia’s beloved outdoor city cats—kucing kampung/luar in Indonesian—but for all living creatures.

Included in the ANGGOTA MEONG KIT:
- Blind Box figure to determine the role
- Cards that match up to the given role
- A guide on how to use the kit
- Information on street cats
- Adjustable straps to change the kit from a backpack to a sling bag
- Notebook for “documentation”
- Cat Stickers!

This hi-fi prototype was created during my “Toy Design for Social Impact” course that I took with Jess Brown, the “Lady J,” who I ended up interning for as a Studio Design intern throughout summer 2025.
